From the history books of Venango County Pa we learn that Marcus
was one of the first ferry men to operate a keel boat and that he
drowned in the very river that made him a living. The fairy was
run close to shore and would either be pushed along by long poles
by the operator(s) or pulled close to shore by horses teathered
by ropes or straps.
