Stromboli
2 pkgs pizza crust mix
1 TBS olive oil
2 - 16 oz pkgs. Shredded mozzarella cheese
1 lb thin sliced smoked provolone cheese
1 can pizza sauce
1 lb thin sliced Virginia style ham
½ lb each of genoa salami & sandwich pepperoni; thinly
sliced
1 medium onion; chopped
1 green pepper; chopped
2 cans of mushroom slices; drained well
1. Prepare pizza crust mix according to directions adding 1 TBS
olive oil to water; divide in half.
2. Working with the first half of dough; pat out on large cookie/baking
sheet
3. Spread ¼ of pizza sauce on center of dough being careful
not to reach edges
4. Layer: ¼ of shredded mozzarella, ½ of ham, salami
& pepperoni, ¼ shredded mozzarella, ¼ of pizza
sauce to equal ½ total, onions, mushrooms and peppers top
with ½ of the smoked provolone cheese.
5. Begin folding up stromboli by gently pulling bottoms up over
stromboli about 1 inch. Then gently pull on long side up onto the
top center of stromboli and finishing by gently pulling last side
up to overlap slightly in the center; seal well by pressing repairing
any tears with the excess dough from ends. Make sure it is sealed
well or will leak when baking.
6. Drizzle with additional olive oil and rub into top; sprinkle
with Italian Seasoning.
7. Bake uncovered in a preheated 375º oven for about 30 minutes
or until golden brown on top.
8. While waiting for the first stromboli to bake assemble and fold
second stromboli following the same instructions above.
